EDITORIAL
Saúde e Sociedade starts the year of 2009 with some news for its readers and collaborators.
Our journal has been indexed in important international bibliographic databases, and this has projected it in a broad international scenario: SCOPUS - Abstract and Citation Database; Ulrich's International Periodicals Directory; Social Sciences Citation Index; Social Scisearch; Journal Citation Reports/Social Sciences Edition; and Latindex.
From this year onwards, the authors will be able to choose whether they want to publish their papers also in English. The English version of the papers will be available online at SciELO - Scientific Library Online.
Several areas of knowledge publish in Saúde e Sociedade, as indicated in the CAPES' qualification of the scientific journals of these areas: anthropology/archaeology, urban and regional planning, demography, social work, education, languages/linguistics, public health, sociology, dentistry, engineering, mathematics/statistics, medicine, law, and the interdisciplinary area. Thus, the journal's editorial line is consolidated, giving particular importance to the interface between health and the social and human sciences.
On the other hand, Saúde e Sociedade has been in tune with the strong social insertion and maturity of the public health area. Mental Health, Oral Health, the Family Health Program, the Movement of the Exposed to Asbestos, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Market are some of the themes approached in this issue, which has collaborators from many regions of Brazil.
