Multi-profissional work: representation in a municipal public service of health

The present study aims to know the social representations of health professionals on the multi-professional work in the Public Service of Health in the city of Bandeirantes - Paraná - Brazil. Forty-four health professionals with a university degree were interviewed answering four open questions that approached aspects regarding the issue. For data analysis, we used the technique of the Collective Subject Discourse, by means of which the speech-synthesis were built using Qualiquantisoft program. In the speeches obtained, the interviewed health professionals considered their work as a routine of programmed care, determined by the demand that was tiresome, however vocational. They highlighted that multi-professional work is the integration of some fields in the health area, of professionals of other areas and other specialties to form a team to solve problems. They consider that for the development of the multi-professional practice, a greater interaction between the managers and the professionals is necessary; as well as having material and physical resources to improve care; provide capacity building and awareness raising, hiring professionals to perform the work with better wages and organization of the health service. The contents show barriers for the development of the multi-professional work, such as the absence of new forms of management, flexibility in work connections and the need to settle old issues, such as wage, position and career plans, and organization of the service, setting up mechanisms that can prevent high professional turnover.
