Regionalization, as a Brazilian Universal Health System (SUS) policy, is both the orientation locus of decentralization of health actions and health services, as well as of the negotiation and pact processes amongst managers. In the State of São Paulo, the modeling of the health service networks has been established for a few years. The following article presents the experience of building a specialized and strategic network for pregnant and puerperium women in the Regional Management Collegiate (CGR) Alto Capivari, in western São Paulo, including the following cities: Iepê, João Ramalho, Nantes, Quatá and Rancharia. Its scope is to discuss the path followed during this process, reflecting on the lessons learned and indicating challenges for the future. A health diagnosis was assessed in the above mentioned cities, and visits and discussions in workshops about health during pregnancy and puerperium took place with both municipal and São Paulo State Health Secretaries. A process of drawing up clinical protocols aimed at this population and aiming to constitute a Maternal and Infant Death Committee was developed in those cities, both being approved in the CGR. The labor performed in the CGR Alto Capivari meant an increase in access to health services, as well as the opportunity for professional qualification and exchange of information with technicians and municipal managers.
