The paper deals with the relations between social sciences and health in the knowledge production of knowledge in the field of Public and Collective Health/Collective Health. It addresses the challenges forof articulating the several areas of knowledge comprised in this areafield, as well as the difficulties concerning the building of a research agenda able to face the demands of the health public policies in health;, it considers considering the rise of a knowledge field which, besides being empirical, is actively concerned with establishing health as a right and a public good.
