Mental health in primary care: the networking and the matrix support to mental health in Family Health Strategy

Due to being a complex and multifaceted issue, the work in the mental health field demands networking strategies. The objective of this study is to discuss the prospects of nurses and community health agents engaged in Family Health Units of the city of Guarujá, Brazil, about their performance in the mental health field in the context of networking and matrix support. Data collection was applied by means of semi-structured interviews. Results show that there are difficulties in developing a networking structure. Matrix support stands out as an important strategy, which, despite its recent implementation in the city, has contributed to promote reflection and joint responsibilities as for the cases of mental health primary care.
