CEREST as a center for coordinating intersectoral actions: An experience with app-based delivery workers

ABSTRACT

The consequences of contemporary transformations in the world of work, where fragile relationships and precarious jobs predominate, represent a major challenge for the actions of health agencies. The Reference Centers for Workers’ Health (CEREST) are a crucial tool for developing public policies related to worker health surveillance. They should prioritize the most vulnerable categories, such as app-based delivery workers. Through an experience report, the intersectoral actions coordinated by CEREST aimed at app-based delivery workers from 2021 to 2025 were described. The actions included the preparation of normative documents and educational material; training for health professionals; promoting debates on the subject; and field action and dialogue with workers. The practices described highlight the need to promote broader debate and develop integrated actions, in order to guarantee rights and protect the health of precarious workers, involving them as protagonists in this process.
