ABSTRACT
This article describes the theoretical-conceptual elements about care, integrality and Primary Health Care, articulating them and emphasizing the essentiality of these ideas in the structuring of the health system in Brazil. It was chosen the essay format according to the arguments of Meneghetti and Adorno. The concepts of care, integrality and primary care were presented, as well as some critiques of theoretical-practical order. It has been demonstrated the existence of a guiding thread that unites them, making them a structural axis of the Unified Health System, as well as the main limits and possibilities of this articulation. Finally, a very brief suggestion was made on the subject in times of economic-political crisis.
