Permanent education on psychosocial care in disaster situations for community health agents: an experience report

ABSTRACT

In view of the occurrence of socio-environmental disasters and the need for psychosocial care carried out in the territory where the affected people reside, a permanent education was developed. The objective of this experience report was to analyze the accomplishment of permanent education on psychosocial care in disaster situations for Community Health Agents (CHA)in a municipality located in the Middle Valley Health Region of Itajaí/Santa Catarina/ Brazil. To perform this activity, active methodologies were used in order to address issues related to disaster, risk, vulnerability, and psychosocial care. The main results highlight the identification of areas susceptible to the occurrence of disasters located within the micro areas of each agent, the reflection on the contribution of CHA to the accomplishment of psychosocial care, as well as the establishment of intersectoral actions between these professionals and Civil Defense agents. Finally, it is emphasized that the resources used through active education made it possible to reflect on the work process of CHA. For the next actions, it is suggested that the entire health team be contemplated through the use of team meetings as a potent space for such action.
