Open-access Impact of new work relationships on mental health in Paraíba: An analysis of notifications

ABSTRACT

Recent transformations in the world of work marked by the flexibilization of working hours, the growth of informality, increased pressure for productivity, and the precarization of working conditions have significantly contributed to the worsening of Work-Related Mental Disorders (WRMDs). This study aimed to analyze the notifications of WRMDs recorded in the state of Paraíba between 2020 and 2024, in order to understand the evolution of these conditions and their possible relationship with the new labor dynamics. This is a quantitative, descriptive study that used secondary data from the Notifiable Diseases Information System, made available by the Paraíba State Health Department, for the period from 2020 to 2024. The data show a progressive increase in notifications in the state, highlighting the need to strengthen surveillance actions, intersectoral collaboration, and the promotion of mental health across territories. It is concluded that it is essential to invest in integrated and territorially grounded strategies that foster healthier work environments, ensuring the dignity and well-being of workers, even in contexts of informality.
