The departing and staying of families at a territory marked by uranium mining: a Merleau-Pontyan study

ABSTRACT

Phenomenological study with merleau-pontyan referential, aiming to unveil the perception of families in the surroundings of the Uranium Concentrate Unit in Caetité - Bahia - Brazil, about living in a neighborhood context with the mining company. Descriptions produced through group interviews with 12 family members living in the area of influence of the mining company were submitted to analysis of the ambiguity and revealed the category: departing and staying as (im)possibility of becoming another, revealing the ambiguity experienced, where permanence in the site involved the maintenance of ties with nature, neighborhood, rural work, but implied damages to the health, finances and existence.
