Informal trade and urban space production in Uberlândia (MG)

Among the economy globalization and the market opening, the capitalist production model passes through a restructuring stage in which imposes to the society, State and space, several and coninuous transformations that allow its maintenance and expansion. In this context, the tertiary sector's growth has been a worldwide trend, evidenced by the expansion os autonomous work. The increase of employment of marginalized populations and the decreasing importance os primary activities for the macro-economy. Informal economic activities are even more present in everyday life of the Brazilian society. Its growthis due the socio-economic transformations, among other reasons, the socio-economic changes resulting from the adoption of flexible management which is freflected directly on the labor market. According to the increasing rates of unemployment and low wages offered in the formal sector, the informality has been, in most cases, the only alternative to work for a significant number of workforce which is out of the stardards required by the job market. From these considerations, this article has as main objective to analyze the expansion of the informal economy, empasising on informal trade in the city of Uberlândia (MG) and (re) production of urban space.
