Abstract
The article aims to present and analyze the academic field of CNPq research productivity grantees (PQs) in Sociology in Brazil. The work draws on literature review and a quantitative descriptive study on research grantees in Brazil based on a theoretical framework that considers the implications of Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of academic and scientific field. The study inquires into the process of becoming a PQ grantee in Brazil; analyzes the profile of PQ grantees in the field of sociology and discusses the case of CNPq level 1A research productivity grantees in sociology, the highest stratum of researchers’ productivity.
