Abstract
The following book review analyses the work Sociologia dos intelectuais, written by the French sociologist Louis Pinto. The text aims to be an introduction to those interested in the theme that gives name to the book, seeking to provide a theoretical framework of objective capacity, as the author himself describes. For this, it relies on a literature that, as a rule, can be divided between historicist and sociological, supposedly undertaking orientations from the two approaches. The analysis provided in this text, however, notes that the work presents contradictions in its development, especially regarding its historicist character. On the other hand, the sociological part lacks conceptual explanations, focusing more on establishing cleavages between intellectuals.
