Open-access Work and society in a process of change

Abstract

The article discusses the theoretical-methodological transformations which Sociology of Labor has been going through, highlighting, in that process, the constraints of the determinist view, as well as the importance of interdisciplinary debates and the broadening of our understanding of what goes on inside the factories and unions, in order to produce new subjects that include studies on the job market and its segmentation, sectorial differences, various implications of the restructuring process to different businesses in the production chains, differences between the Brazilian process and that of First World countries, among others.
