Temporal progress of Carrot leaf spot in different genotypes of carrot

ABSTRACT

Carrot crop has expanded in different places in Brazil and in the Alto Vale do Itajaí region, Santa Catarina State, Brazil, a large part of this production is done by small farmers. However, the Carrot leaf spot (Alternaria dauci) has committed the production. Considering this aspect, the target of this study was to evaluate the progress of this disease on the following genotypes: Alvorada calibrada média, Brasília, Brazlândia Ferracini, Flakee, Nantes, Nantes Express e Suprema calibrada média. The experiment was carried on at the Instituto Federal Catarinense – IFC/Campus Rio do Sul in randomized block with four replications. To evaluate the severity of disease was used a diagrammatic scale on ten plants previously random demarcated. The severity data were analyzed using area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC), infection rate and final disease severity. There were no differences in disease progression between the genotypes on the conditions of the Alto Vale do Itajaí region, Santa Satarina State, Brazil.
