This paper approaches the issue of cooperation activities carried out by technology-based firms (TBFs). Drawing on a database built from a survey including 100 Brazilian TBFs, we argue that among these firms the practice of cooperation is quite restricted, too concentrated on relationships with universities, and reflects a low density networking. Such circumstances clearly hinder the innovative performance of Brazilian TBFs, thus undermining their competitiveness as a whole in the long run.
