Social Services' practices towards terminal patients: brief considerations

The way to face death has changed over time, and currently this event causes fear, which may be worse in the case of terminal patients, because, besides having to face a range of difficulties related to their diseases, they also have to deal constantly with the issue of death. In this context, although the role of a social worker is essential, it is still scarcely known, and the reflections on the possibilities and limits of the social worker's expertise with terminal patients remain rare. Considering that, the purpose of this paper is to bring to light some thoughts about the social worker's role with these individuals.
