Interdisciplinary care practices: a promising way

This is a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory study based on historical dialectic materialism from a complexity perspective. It was developed with professionals and users from two interdisciplinary health care teams in two hospitals in southern Brazil. The objective of this study was to better understand the experiences which call for potential health care from the perspective of integrality and from interdisciplinary action, through reviewing the teams' work organization(s). The data, collected through interviews, documentary study, and systematic observation from August of 2005 to May of 2006 within the reality of the services under study, was analyzed through triangulation method. Content analysis then oriented data organization. The results demonstrate that collective planning practices, systematic meetings among the team, the family members, and the users contribute to better results in the sense of integrality of health care, towards the permanent education of these teams and towards work satisfaction. We conclude that the interdisciplinary perspective in health care is a promising path for improvements in the quality of health care.
