Humanization in the perspective of nursing workers

The objective of this study was to identify the nursing workers' perceptions concerning humanization of care at a university hospital. An exploratory descriptive research was conducted, which involved a sample of 120 workers. The instrument of data collection was a questionnaire with personal information and objective questions. The quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, with the qualitative data analyzed through operational steps of pre-analysis, exploration of the material, and interpretation of the results. The group was composed predominantly of nursing assistants (46.7%) who were women (87.5%), with an average age of 39.8 years and who work in the institution an average of 9 years. The institution was considered good by 69.2% of the participants, and would be recommended to others, for it was said to give humanized assistance by 92.2% of the responses, and directed toward moral integrity (65.2%), in spite of 65.8% of the nursing workers having witnessed situations in which the user was treated poorly more than twice.
