The objective of this bibliographic research is to increase the technical-scientific production in nursing about ethics, aesthetics, and their involvement in the promotion of nursing gerontology care. In order to collect data, bibliographic searches were carried out in the LILACS and MEDLINE databases, as well as in the stacks of the library of the Federal University of the Paraná, Brazil. The period searched in the databases was from 1990 to 2006. The research resulted in forty-five (45) studies being classified as research or reflections. Through these results, a significant number of Master's Dissertations (22.22%) were recognized, demonstrating the interest and importance of such production. Within this body of work these productions focus upon the theme of ethics, in detriment to the references to aesthetics. The involvement of ethics and aesthetics in the promotion of geriatric nursing care is indispensable for the development of a culture of care in nursing and for its sustainability.
