The work process of the nursing team in the Neonatal ICU and human care

The aim of this study was to diagnose the Nursing Work Process in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, identifying the nursing team's perception about the work itself, the instruments used to work; the aim of the work; the final product obtained from the work; and the actions that are developed for the humanization of nursing care. This qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory study, involved 18 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nursing professionals at the University Hospital of Western Parana, Brazil, as participants in this study. From this study, two analysis categories were denominated "The Nursing Work Process" and "The humanization of nursing care". This study permitted the revelation of an overall non-comprehension of the work process that professionals perform in their daily activities, and as a consequence the humanizing actions of care are parceled and fragmented.
