This article is a reflection about the nurse's role as a manager of care in the current globalized world with its subsequent demands. It discusses the relevance of the professional education process in order for the nurse to play his/her role in the context of managerial competences, which are currently widely diffused as a management model. It also highlights the relevance of developing management competencies for nurses after the baccalaureate and in the permanent on the job educational processes.
