The aim of this research was to identify the emotional and body discomfort expressed by the participants of a group of pregnant women and to describe the body approach resources utilized to relieve the discomforts. An action research strategy was carried out, with a group of pregnant women composed of eight women and four companions. The group was carried out in a university hospital located in the city of São Paulo. The cited discomforts and the identified demands included: leg aches, insomnia, anxiety, body fatigue, lombar aches, discomforts caused by abdominal volume, the childbirth ache, muscular tension, childbirth breathing, childbirth positions, the role of the companion and the newborn massage. The orientations offered and the body techniques utilized in sessions are described as well as the explanation about their finalities.
