The nursing perception concerning the control of hospital infection commission: challenges and perspectives

This article deals with research of a quanti/qualitative nature. Its objective is to learn the perception of nursing assistants who work in a University Hospital concerning the Control of Hospital Infection Commission (CCIH) and of the attributes of the nurse responsible for this commission. The sample was constituted by forty-nine (49) nurses of the diverse units of the hospital. It utilized a questionnaire with semi-open questions related to the objectives of the study for the collection of data. The research reveals the integration among the CCIH professionals and the nursing assistants, once the nursing assistants understood the activities of the Commission and the true role set out for the nurse within the Commission. However, some challenges were pointed out, such as: the public promotion of the finalities and the importance of the activities of the CCIH to the nurses who began working in the hospital within the last two years and the growth in the number of nurses who answer to the Commission
