Open-access The political networks of the Portuguese sports and recreation associations in São Paulo during the 1930s

The article, located in the field of the history of sport, aims to analyze the political activities of the three main sports and recreational Portuguese clubs and associations in São Paulo in the 1930s: Clube Português, Portugal Clube and Associação Portuguesa de Desportos. The main sources being constituted by the newspapers Correio Paulistano and Correio de S. Paulo, the study found that the mentioned institutions were integrated with each other and with other Portuguese associations, forming political networks that were expressed both by the articulation of joint actions and the interpersonal relationships between their leaderships.
