Open-access Women’s militancy in the Brazilian left: a reflection on Elisa Branco in the PCB, from the point of view of Jorge Ferreira

This is a critical review of a biography of Elisa Branco, written by Jorge Ferreira. Branco was a militant for pacifist and feminist causes, who lived in São Paulo between 1912 and 2001. The review briefly analyzes the author’s academic trajectory, reports some important facts about the biographer’s trajectory, as well as the book’s relationship with the debate about biographies in historiography writing.
