The early modern “perfect jurist”

Abstract

Based on the analysis of the deontological literature regarding jurists, the ideal portrait of the jurists is drawn, relating it with the social imaginary about justice and law. This model of jurists is not only an ideal of the group, but also a standard of behavior for jurists and a reference for society which, in dealing with the group of legal letrados, is decisively influenced by the way in which they imagine themselves. Image they seek to spread and inculcate in others. Underlying are methodological convictions about the shaping power of imaginaries and discourses.
