The author criticizes a previous work by the American historian Gwendolyn Midlo Hall and analyzes the meanings of the term "Mina' in Africa and within the African Diaspora. He demonstrates the relevance of the control of the documentation and the nomenclature as well to obtain the proper meanings in each particular situation. In conclusion the author shows the term "Mina" may refer to places and people depending on the situation.
