Open-access Domingos Dias da Silva, the last contractor of Angola: The trajectory of a great slave trader of Lisbon

The article analyzes the trajectory of an important slave trader from Lisbon in the third quarter of the 18th century. With this biography, I try to understand his activities in the Angolan slave trade as captain and contractor and discuss the formation of the fortune of a businessman who had in the trade of people one of his main activities. In addition, I intend to discuss the role of the royal contract on the export duties of slaves in the trade organization of Luanda and the institutional changes that occurred in the period, contributing to a better understanding of the economic links that connected Portugal, Angola and Brazil.
