Abstract
This article proposes a study about the administration of justice on donee lands under the power of Mateus Nunes José de Macedo, Ouvidor (royal magistrate) of Espírito Santo, over Paraíba do Sul Captaincy, located in Campos dos Goytacazes (1745-1748). In this turbulent administration, power relations both triggered conflicts and fomented customer-oriented networks which not only defined strategies but also established social and political guarantees. And in that context, Justice surely played a quintessential part. And in a donne captaincy these power relations have become even more complex.
