A classic of historiography, La société féodale still raises discussion about elementary issues, such as the definition of its object and the theoretical references with which it is related. We attempt to approach these issues by examining some key notions in the definition of the work's object and by discussing some of the references that interfere in the conception of the book, especially Durkeim's sociology.
