Open-access Bibliometric analysis of the application of Lean Six Sigma in higher education institutions (2013-2023)

Abstract

The study addresses the application of Lean Six-Sigma in Higher Education Institutions between 2013-2023, with the aim of analyzing current publication trends, especially in the scientific databases Scopus and Web of Science. The research questions focus on publication trends, active authors, publications at a national level, groups according to authors and keywords, research trends, author productivity and future research areas. The methodology compares Scopus and Web of Science according to publication patterns, document type and active authors. Software such as Vosviewer and Biblioshiny were used for detailed analysis. The results show that Lean Six-Sigma in Higher Education Institutions is a specific niche. “The International Journal of Lean Six- Sigma and the TQM Journal in Web of Science and Scopus are the main sources of publication. The United States leads scientific production, and Antony J is highlighted as the most active author. This study is valuable for its originality, filling a gap in the literature by mapping the scope of Lean Six-Sigma in higher education ins titutions.
