Validation of a checklist for the design of a Nubeteca

Abstract

In recent decades, digital transformation has redefined the management and consumption of information, boosting the evolution of reading and the training of readers in a new digital ecosystem. In this context, libraries, as guardians of the cultural legacy of reading, must adapt to continue being relevant, which has given way to the creation of "Nubetecas", spaces that integrate the physical and the digital. Therefore, the objective of this study is to develop and validate a checklist to evaluate the key elements that must characterize this multimodal space, focused on three dimensions: spatial organization, technological equipment and library management policy. Our investigation employs a mixed methodology and is based on the validation of a checklist using a valuation scale comprising a total of 33 items, in which seven experts selected by their specialized knowledge on the topic participated. The results reveal that the contributions of experts led to significant adjustments in several items, improving the precision, relevance and effectiveness of the instrument in line with current needs. However, the printed book remains crucial for developing in-depth reading and reflection and concentration skills.
