Open-access The impact of technology on learning in higher education: a systematic literature review

Abstract

Technology is a fundamental part of teaching and learning processes, regardless of the context and educational stage. In higher education, its presence is more widespread, both because of the characteristics of the student body and the greater expansion of hybrid or online learning processes. Based on this reality, this paper explores the use of technology in higher education, placing special emphasis on its implications for student learning. To this end, we take Ibero-America as the geographical context of reference, proposing a systematic review of the scientific literature hosted in the Dialnet database over the last three years. The results show that there is a very notable scientific production, which is progressively increasing; that technology is present in different countries, degrees and that, in a generalised manner, it represents a potential for the development of different competences of higher education students.
