What do learners think about the english text book?

This paper aims to investigate how secondary and high school students, as well as those who study at private language courses, view their English textbook. A total of 260 students from Caçador, SC, answered a questionnaire that elicited their opinions, conceptions and critical standpoint on this learning resource. The data were analyzed from both a general and contextual perspective aiming to find out similarities and differences among the teenagers' responses. It was possible to conclude that the teachers' methodology seems to influence the students' conceptions about what an English textbook must offer and how it should be evaluated.
