Abstract
In this article, we highlight the narrow ideological links between notions of sovereignty, state of exception and totalitarianism in Carl Schmitt’s political-intellectual trajectory, which rule out any perspective of popular sovereignty. We adopt a theoretical-methodological position inspired by Nicos Poulantzas, and our main hypothesis is that the selective appropriation of notions worked by Schmitt blocks the scientific knowledge and reinforces the ideological confusion among the popular classes.
