The particularity of contemporary socializing process

The aim of this paper is to look at the contemporary individual's socializing process from the standpoint of the educator, more specifically, from the Sociology of Education point of view. It deals with the particularity of the socializing process through its contextualization in a new socio-cultural configuration, based on Anthony Giddens' concept of modernity. It also deals with this phenomenon taking Émile Durkheim, Peter Berger, Thomas Luckmann and, more recently, François Dubet e Bernard Lahire's contributions, highlighting the limits of classical socialization concepts facing the emergence of a media-boosted culture.
