Revista Agrícola (1869-1891): sensitize the farmer and plant agricultural sciences

The article presents a reflection on the Revista Agrícola, a publication founded in 1869 and uninterrupted activity for 21 years. Analyzes the editors and editorial of the periodical, as well as key topics. He points his contribution in spreadings cientific practices geared to rural activities and an area for legitimate agricultural sciences and related areas. Shows that the ideas of modernization of agriculture in the periodical were conveyed to the end of slavery interconnected and need to use 'rational' soil. The article concludes with a brief comparative analysis with the Revista de Horticultura, a publication of the time on a similar theme.
