The article studies the impact of the Tupinambá images, by Theodoro de Bry's (XVI Century), in the historical painting of the XIX century, mainly in the canvas "Nóbrega e seus companheiros" (1843), painted by Joaquím Corte Real. Corte Real was an anatomical drawing professor of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro.
