The Medieval Portuguese History: preservation, ordinance and forgetfulnessDuring the last centuries of Medieval Europe there was a preoccupation by writing. This preoccupation was related to the kingdoms unification and aided to establish the non-Latin languages as documental and knowledge languages. In Portugal this process had place during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, when the memory was organized by the act of writing, and a "Portuguese" past perspective was constructed. This article aims to expose some indexes that reveal the importance the fourteenth and fifteenth Portuguese court gave to the past reconstruction, particularly by choosing what should not be forgotten.
