About the journal

 

Basic Information

 

The journal Revista Brasileira de Literatura Comparada welcomes manuscripts that focus on Comparative Literature, in Portuguese, Galician, English, French, German and Spanish either from a national perspective or moving beyond national frames to discuss the cosmopolitan threads of a variety of literary traditions. Three issues per year are published.. This Journal uses LOCKSS program for high-confidence, resilient, secure digital preservation. The first number of the first volume was published in 1991.

Its abbreviated title is Rev. Bras. Lit. Comp. which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.

Instructions to authors

 

Scope and Policy

 

The Editorial Board will consider both articles, reviews, interviews and other documents in the areas of Comparative Literature and Literature Studies, in Portuguese, Galician, English, French, German and Spanish. We will only consider .doc, .docx or .rtf files. The articles must not contain the author´s identification. This identification must be provided in a cover page: name, institution, address, e-mail, telefone, orcid. The articles must have at least 3000 words (maximum: 10.000 words). As an exception to the general rule, the editors are authorized to receive files with less or more words in specific situations. All articles must have Abstract and Keywords in Portuguese and in English.

Manuscripts must be written by doctors. As an exception to this rule, poets, novelists or artists may be invited by the editors to publish articles.

This journal uses double-blind peer review, which means that the identities of the reviewer and the author are hidden by the reviewers and vice versa, throughout the review process. The manuscript will be reviewed by two members of the Editorial Comission or by reviewers appointed by the Editors, in a period of time that should not exceed 2 months, and the author will receive his / her response by email from the OJS system. The manuscript can be: 1) accepted without restrictions; 2) accepted with restrictions; 3) rejected. In the second case, if the article is not part of a thematic dossier, the author can submit it again, changing the original, to eliminate the restrictions.

Copyright issues are the under the exclusive responsability of the author(s), who are fully responsible for their content in the event of possible opposition by third parties and must seek copyright clearance from all the individual right-holders of non original contents in their papers and make sure that the content of their articles published in the Revista Brasileira de Literatura Comparada have all due copyright clearances.

Authors who publish in this journal agree to maintain the copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication, the work being simultaneously licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License  CC BY.

Authors who publish in this jornal are allowed and encouraged to publish and distribute their work online (eg in institutional repositories or on their personal page) after the editorial process.

Authors who submit manuscripts, reviews or any other kind of document to this jornal certify that they have no affiliations with or involvement in any organization or entity with any financial interest (such as honoraria; educational grants; participation in speakers’ bureaus; membership, employment, consultancies, stock ownership, or other equity interest; and expert testimony or patent-licensing arrangements), or non-financial interest (such as personal or professional relationships, affiliations, knowledge or beliefs) in the subject matter or materials discussed in this manuscript.

Authors who submit manuscripts with coautorship, joint autorship, or multiple authorship must register the contribution of each and every author to the manuscript according to  CRediTCasrai.

RBLC is a journal for readers who are interested in research articles, reviews, interviews and other documents about Comparative Literatura and Literary Studies.

 

 

Form and preparation of manuscripts

 

1.Manuscripts are submitted in our site. As an exception to the general rule, the editors are authorized to receive attached files sent to their e-mails. Revista Brasileira de Literatura Comparada is an Open Access Journal. We do not have article submission or processing charges.

2.The Editorial Board will consider both articles and reviews in the areas of Comparative Literature and Literature Studies, in Portuguese, Galician, English, French, German and Spanish. We will only consider .doc, .docx or .rtf files. The article must not contain the author´s identification. This identification must be presented on a cover page containing: name, institution, address, telephone, orcid number, e-mail, complete affiliation of the authors (indicating institution + faculty and department, city, state and country), just below authors' names on separate lines.The article must have at least 3000 words (maximum: 10.000 words). As an exception to the general rule, the editors are authorized to receive files with less or more words in specific situations. All articles must have Abstract and Keywords in Portuguese and in another language (preferably in English).

3.Originals must be written by doctors. As an exception to this rule, poets, novelists or artists may be invited by the editors to publish articles.

4.In considering the submitted papers, the Editorial Board may demand changes in their structure or content.

5. Papers must be submitted with title in their original language, in electronic document with extension .doc, .docx or .rtf, Times New Roman font 12, without any other formatting except for:

5.1 bold and italics indication
5.2 3 cm margins
5.3 1cm indentation for paragraph begining
5.4 1 cm indentation for long quotations
5.5 italics for foreign words and book or journal titles


6. The standard adapted for submission of submissions, adopted by the RBLC, is explained in the following items. Authors are required to resort to as few footnotes as possible, which are NOT to be placed at the end of the text. As for references in the body of the article, they should contain the first letter of author’s surname in uppercase as well as date of publication and page number in parentheses (eg.: Araújo, 2019, p. 4-7).

7. Bibliographical references should be placed at the end of the text.

8. Tables, graphs and figures should be identified, with a title or legend, and referred to in the body of the work as figure, in abbreviated form (eg.: Fig. 1, Fig. 2 etc.).

9. Papers should contain two abstracts (in Portuguese and in another language, preferably English), no more than 5 lines in length. In addition, between 3 to 5 keywords (in Portuguese and in another language, preferably English) are required.

10. Originals will be evaluated from the following items:

10.1 appropriateness to the journal's theme
10.2 originality of thought
10.3 relevance for the study area
10.4 bibliographic update
10.5 objectivity and clarity
10.6 technical-scientific language
10.7 in case of reviews, recently published book

11.
