The Revista de Odontologia da UNESP (ISSN 1807-2577 - online) Rev. Odontol. UNESP began in 1979 with the merger of the journals Revista da Faculdade de Odontologia de Araçatuba, Revista da Faculdade de Farmácia e Odontologia de Araraquara and Revista da Faculdade de Odontologia de São José dos Campos. It is published by the Universidade Estadual Paulista "Julio de Mesquita Filho" - UNESP. Since its inception, the journal has been adapting to the guidelines for a contemporary editorial policy. Since it was indexed in the SciELO database, the journal is open access, fully online and articles are published in Portuguese or English. Since 2019, the journal has adopted continuous publication, allowing articles to be published more quickly.

The Revista de Odontologia da UNESP is an open access. The journal adopts a series of practices, such as the open access policy, the code of good practice for editors and the use of social networks to disseminate published work. In addition, it requires the precise indication of the role of each author in articles with multiple authorship, encourages the sharing of analysis data sets, instruments, statistical analysis and additional materials, made available in open online repositories, such as , Zenodo, Figshare e OSF, NCBI, Mendeley Data if they cannot be published in the paper itself, and this information must be indicated in the manuscript.

Rev. Odontol. UNESP encourages the publication of preprint articles on public platforms, such as Preprints, SciELO Preprints and EmeRI, so that, where appropriate, they can be discussed openly before being published.

Also in line with open science practices, the journal offers authors and reviewers the option of opening up the peer review process, with or without identifying their names. 

Rev. Odontol. UNESP is dedicated to complying with good practices and follows norms and recommendations for ethical standards and responsibility in scientific communication established by national and international institutions, including: COPE, Equator Network, ICMJE,  Fapesp e o Guia de Boas Práticas para o Fortalecimento da Ética na Publicação Científica

Rev. Odontol. UNESP is committed to ethics and quality in publishing. The Journal conform to the standards of ethical behavior expected of all parties involved: authors, editors and reviewers in publishing in the journal. Authors, Editors and Reviewers are encouraged to study and follow all the rules of good practice in scientific research.

In order to promote the predominance of originality in its texts, the journal adopts software to check for duplication with texts that have already been published, Rev. Odontol. UNESP does not accept plagiarism or any other unethical behavior. The journal considers the practice of plagiarism to be unacceptable. When plagiarism is detected, the author(s) are informed, with the presentation of the report generated by the software used. Rev. Odontol. UNESP uses the Turnitin plagiarism detection software. If there is any doubt, the editor-in-chief contacts the corresponding author. If duplication is proven, the authors' affiliation or funding institutions involved in the development of the research are contacted and the article is rejected for publication.

When submitting articles to the journal, the authors declare that the content is original and guarantee that the work has not been published and is not under review/evaluation in any other journal.

Fabricating or falsifying data and images is a serious misconduct. The evaluation process is careful to identify such misconduct. If there are any doubts, the authors are asked to provide supporting data on the methodology and results. If misconduct is found, the journal informs the authors' affiliation or funding institutions involved in the development of the research. The journal follows the COPE  flow charts for identifying and advising on misconduct.

If ethical misconduct is suspected, the Editor-in-Chief will assess the situation with a view to clarifying the problem. Corrections or clarifications may be published by the

journal if necessary. Cases not listed in these rules will be resolved by the Editor-in- Chief and deputy editors. Occasionally, when the journal's decision is contested, a committee is set up made up of members of the editorial board and members from outside the journal.

The author(s) of the article found to have misconduct will not be allowed to publish in Rev. Odontol. UNESP for a period of 5 years.

The authors hold the copyright for the articles published in Rev. Odontol. UNESP. The content of the articles is the sole responsibility of the authors. The journal uses Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) for the articles published. This license allows published articles to be reused without permission for any purpose, once the author and original source have been cited.

The Revista de Odontologia da Unesp (ISSN 1807-2577 - online) is a continuously published, peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal that publishes original scientific articles and reviews that constitute advances in knowledge in the field of dentistry and related areas. Review articles are written only at the request of the editor. Rev. Odontol. UNESP does not publish case reports, clinical cases or short communications. The journal adopts a series of practices, such as the open access policy, the code of good practice for editors and the use of social networks to disseminate published work. All articles published in Rev. Odontol. UNESP have a DOI - Digital Object Identifier.

General Policies

Articles can be submitted in Portuguese or English. After peer review and acceptance for publication in Rev. Odontol. UNESP the Portuguese texts may be translated into English, and the author(s) are responsible for the translation process. Authors who are not native speakers of English should seek help from a translation.

company. Texts in English must be accompanied by a document proving that they have been proofread by professionals with proficiency in the English language. The journal proofreads texts in Portuguese and English before publication. If the text is inadequate, the author(s) will be notified and given a deadline to make the corrections.

The text submitted must be unpublished and cannot be submitted to another journal at the same time. The journal uses the Turnitin anti-plagiarism program to check the originality of the article. If the article has been published in a preprint repository, please provide the access identifier at the time of submission.

The journal is published continuously, with open access and online. It reserves the right to submit all papers to a board of reviewers fully authorized to decide on their acceptance, or to return them to the authors with suggestions and changes to the text, and/or for adaptation to the journal's editorial regulations. Also in line with open science practices, the journal offers authors and reviewers the option of opening up the peer review process, with or without identifying their names. Authorization to disclose their names can be given by the authors when submitting the article and by the reviewers when filling in the Evaluation Form on compliance with Open Science.

The concepts expressed in the published works are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the Editors or the Editorial Board.

The dates of receipt and acceptance are published in the articles.

The journal charges a fee of R$ 700.00 (seven hundred reais) for Brazilians and U$ 200.00 (two hundred dollars) for foreigners per article accepted for publication. There  is no submission or evaluation fee. The fee will be paid by the author(s) upon receipt of the letter approving the article for publication. The fee is paid directly to the Cubo publishing house responsible for editorial production.

No additions or changes of authorship will be allowed during the evaluation stage or after acceptance of the submitted text.

The text must be duly revised by the author(s). Texts that do not meet the journal's standards will be rejected.

Authors must be registered with ORCID  and provide an access link in their profile.

Rev. Odontol. UNESP accepts manuscript submissions online at ScholarOne Manuscripts. Authors must first create a ScholarOne ROUNESP-SCIELO account. The system will guide authors through a step-by-step process to create the account.

Once created, authors can submit their manuscripts by logging into their "Author Center" and clicking on the "Click here to submit a new manuscript" button. Authors should prepare their manuscripts according to the instructions below. Failure to comply with this recommendation may result in delays or the manuscript not being submitted. Should any difficulties be encountered at any time during the submission process, authors are encouraged to contact Rev. Odontol. UNESP at revodontolunesp@gmail.com

Preprints

A preprint is a version of an article prior to peer review, which certifies or not its formal publication in a journal. The preprint is deposited by the corresponding author on a preprint server, usually thematic, following public procedures. The preprint can be an early or incomplete version, but the most common is a final version. When using this service, authors set a preceding date, can request comments and add suggestions to the manuscript, which is then sent to the formal editorial process of a journal. Rev. Odontol. UNESP encourages and accepts the publication of preprint articles on public platforms such as Preprints, SciELO Preprints and EmeRI. The journal accepts articles for evaluation that have already been published on preprint servers. Authors must disclose details of the preprint posting, including DOI and licensing terms, upon submission of the manuscript or at any other point during consideration in Rev. Odontol. UNESP. Once the preprint is published, it is the author's responsibility to ensure that the record is updated with a reference to the publication, including the DOI and a URL link to the published version of the article on the journal's website, and if the article is already published Rev. Odontol. UNESP will consider including the reference as "Corrections and retractions" and will follow the journal's rules.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence does not meet the requirements of Rev. Odontol. UNESP for authorship of a scientific article given the need for accountability. Artificial intelligence (AI) tools and Language Models (LLM) cannot be listed as authors on any academic paper published by Rev. Odontol. UNESP.

The artificial intelligence can be used by authors in cases that are not related to ethical problems, such as: responsibility for the article, presence and absence of conflict of interest and not being responsible for managing license agreements and rights of the author(s).

The texts obtained in AI can include biases, distortions, irrelevancies, misrepresentations and plagiarism, many of which are caused by the algorithms that govern their generation and depend to a large extent on the content of the materials used to form the questions.

Valid activities for the use of artificial intelligence will be considered:

• Assistance with the language of the article. When AI is used to paraphrase or improve the author's original content, rather than suggesting new content, it becomes similar to tools such   as   Grammarly, spellcheckers, dictionaries and thesaurus. Texts translated by artificial intelligence will not be accepted.
• Literature search. Generative text models can be used as search assistants and to identify relevant literature. The usual requirements apply for the accuracy of citations and the thoroughness of literature reviews; care must be taken with possible biases in suggested citations. The author(s) are important in the selection and critical analysis of AI research.
• Uninnovative texts. Some authors may consider that describing widely known concepts is a waste of time and a task that can be automated. The manuscript should specify where such a text has been used and convince the reviewers that it has been verified that the generation is accurate and that it is accompanied by relevant and appropriate citations.
• Authors who use AI tools in the writing of a manuscript, in the production of images or graphic elements, or in the compilation and analysis of data, should make it explicit in the Materials and Methods section of the article with details of how the AI tool was used and which tool was used.
• Authors are responsible for the accuracy, completeness and originality of their research articles, including any use of AI.
• The use of AI must not violate the plagiarism policy of Rev. Odontol. UNESP. Academic papers must be authored by the author and must not present ideas, data, words or other material from third parties without proper citation and transparent referencing.

Article Evaluation Process

Rev. Odontol. UNESP's editorial policy defines the following criteria for evaluation process: adequacy to the scope of the journal and the technical, grammatical and formal standards of the journal, relevance, content, textual coherence, theoretical-methodological consistency.

The evaluation process consists of three stages:

• 1. Preliminary analysis by the editors and editorial assistant to verify: compliance with the general instructions defined by the editorial policy; the focus and scope of the journal, the relevance and contribution of the text and analysis of similarity in all documents submitted via the Turnitin platform.  The journal has strict attention to ethical standards for conducting research on animals and humans. Certificates from animal and human ethics committees are required in the submission process. If there is any doubt about the documentation submitted, the journal may reject the article. Any article that does not meet the criteria will be returned to the authors for corrections, as many times as necessary. If the work is inadequate or does not comply with the journal's standards, it may be rejected on the basis of the evaluation, otherwise it will be sent for peer review.
• 2. Forwarding to reviewers: The article that complies with the rules will be submitted for evaluation of merit and scientific method by at least two ad hoc reviewers (Peer Rating Process) from institutions other than those of its author(s). In line with open science practices, the journal offers authors and reviewers the option of opening up the peer review process, with or without identifying their names. Authorization to disclose their names can be given by the authors when submitting the article and by the reviewers when filling in the Open Science Compliance Form. In the event of publication of the evaluations on which the decision to publish the article was based, they may be edited by the journal's editorial board.The reviewers will recommend one of the options in a ScholarOne form:
  • Accept
  • Minor revision
  • Major revision
  • Rejected

• After analyzing the reviewers, the editors forward it to the author(s). In the case of a Minor or Major review, the article is returned to the author(s) for correction, modification, adequacy and/or justification reviewer(s)' considerations. After the modification(s), the author(s) resubmit the article for further evaluation.
• The revised manuscript must be submitted online at ScholarOne Manuscripts by the same author who submitted the original manuscript. The revised version of an article must be resubmitted accompanied by a cover letter explaining each change requested by the reviewer(s). Suggestions that are not accepted must be validly justified. Changes must be clearly highlighted in the text. As for suggestions and corrections made directly to the text, it is recommended that changes be made to the Word settings in order to keep the identity of the author(s) confidential. The revised article and cover letter are initially assessed by the Editor, who will forward them to the reviewers on request.
• If the article is rejected by one of the two reviewers, the Editor will decide whether to send it to a third reviewer. The Editor is responsible for the final decision on whether to accept or reject articles. If there are any doubts about the statistical analysis, the journal will send it to a statistical consultant. The corrected article is sent back to the reviewers for further analysis.
• 3. After approval, the article is sent to the CUBO publishing for the editorial process. The final proof of the articles is sent to the corresponding author by e-mail with a link to download the article in PDF format for final approval. The author has 72 hours to correct and return the duly revised original, if necessary. If the proof is not returned within 72 hours, the Scientific Editor considers the unaltered version to be final and no further changes are permitted. Only minor changes, such as correcting spelling and checking illustrations, are accepted. Extensive modifications imply a re-examination by the reviewers and a delay in the publication of the article.
• After proof approval by the author(s) and prior to publication, the author(s) will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to pay the fee.

Open data

The journal encourages the author(s) to publish the analysis data sets, instruments, statistical analysis reports, captions and additional materials made available in open online repositories such as SciELO Data,  Zenodo, Figshare e OSF, Mendeley Data if they cannot be published in the work itself, and this information should be indicated in the manuscript. Consequently, research articles should indicate and reference the availability of the content underlying the research and the results obtained.

Charging Fees

Rev. Odontol. UNESP does not charge a fee for submitting, evaluating or reviewing articles. After acceptance by the journal, there is a publication fee of R$700.00 (seven hundred reais) for Brazilians and U$ 200.00 (two hundred dollars) for foreigners per article accepted for publication. This fee is to pay for the formatting of the article for publication.

When there is a need for rectification, correction and/or retraction, the author(s) must pay a fee of R$ 500.00 (five hundred reais) for Brazilians and U$ 100.00 (one hundred dollars) for foreigners.

Authors are responsible for paying for the translation of articles into English, exempt from Rev. Odontol. UNESP of costs.

Ethics and Misconduct Policy, Errata and Retration

Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been previously published (except in the form of an abstract, published lecture or academic thesis). The article will first be evaluated for compliance with the Journal's rules and analyzed by plagiarism detection software by the technical advisory board.
 

Corrections and Retractions

Authors are expected to carefully consider the list and sequence of authors before submitting their manuscript and to forward the final list of authors at the time of submission. No additions or changes of authorship will be allowed during the evaluation stage or after acceptance of the submitted text. The article already published in which the misconduct is identified remains indexed in the journal's database as retracted. 

The retraction documents the reason for the retraction duly referenced, through communication from the author or editor or other authorized agent, and published in the same journal. The retraction can be partial when the misconduct applies to a specific part of the article, without, however, compromising the whole of the published research.

The procedure for registering a retraction of an article published in Rev. Odontol. UNESP is initiated upon receipt of a formal communication to the Editor-in-Chief of the journal, via e-mail to adriana.marcantonio@unesp.br, who will notify SciELO. The communication must be accompanied by the retraction text stating the reasons why the article will be retracted.

The article cannot be "unpublished". Mistakes or errors, regardless of their nature or origin, which do not constitute misconduct, are corrected by means of an erratum. The journal will publish errata, corrections or retractions as soon as possible. Any additions or modifications to the submitted text should only be made before the manuscript is accepted and only if approved by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal. 

The Editor will only consider additions and changes to the text in exceptional circumstances after the manuscript has been accepted. While the Editor considers the request, publication of the manuscript will be suspended.

If the manuscript has already been published in an online issue, any requests approved by the Editor-in-Chief will result in a rectification fee of R$ 500.00 (five hundred reais) for Brazilians and U$ 100.00 (one hundred dollars) for foreigners (corrections and retractions fee).

Conflict of Interest Policy

Authors:

Authors are obliged to disclose any potential conflict of interest. Conflicts of interest can be of a personal, commercial, political, academic or financial nature. Conflicts of interest can occur when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts. When submitting the manuscript, authors are responsible for recognizing and disclosing financial or other conflicts that may have influenced the work. If there is even a potential conflict of interest, the author(s) must disclose this in a signed document attached to the submission platform. Authors must identify in the manuscript all financial support obtained for the work and other personal connections related to the work. 

Example of declaration when there is no conflict of interest:

"The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest related to this study".

Example of declaration of conflict of interest:

"This study was funded by a grant from ABC Corporation, São Paulo, Brazil. Dr. Silva is on the scientific advisory board of ABC Corporation and gives lectures sponsored by the company. Dr. Bezerra is a consultant and shareholder of CFG Corporation, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Dr. Brasil and Dr. Oliveira report no conflicts of interest related to this study."

Editors and Reviewrs 

The reviewer must inform the editors of any conflicts of interest that could influence the analysis of the manuscript, and must declare themselves unqualified to review it. Reviewers should consider any type of conflict of interest before evaluating the manuscript. Working relationships with the author(s) should be considered (e.g. participating or having participated in a research project; maintaining or having maintained scientific collaboration with research groups; having a mentoring relationship with the author; having a financial interest in the project involved in the manuscript, being related to the author(s).

Like reviewers, editors should avoid making decisions on manuscripts that conflict with their own interests, such as those submitted by authors from their department, research collaborators or relatives.

Adoption of Similarity Checking Software

The journal considers the practice of plagiarism to be unacceptable. The journal uses Turnitin software to check the originality of the article before sending it to the reviewers. Similarity will be considered when the report generated by the program shows long texts (more than 30%) that demonstrate plagiarism. When plagiarism is detected, the authors are informed by presenting the report generated by the Turnitin  plagiarism detection software. If there are any doubts or questions, the editor-in-chief contacts the corresponding author and, if necessary, all the authors.  If duplication is proven, the authors' affiliation or funding institutions involved in the development of the research are contacted and the article is rejected for publication.

Sex and Gender Equity

Manuscripts submitted to Rev. Odontol. UNESP must comply with the principles of the Sex and Gender Equity in Research - SAGER Guideline. According to this guideline, the terms sex (a biological attribute) and gender (shaped by social and cultural circumstances) should be used carefully in order to avoid confusion in their use.

Ethics Committee

The structure of the text is guided in the "TEXT STRUCTURE" section. Review articles are written and published only at the request of the editor to the author(s).

The Revista de Odontologia da UNESP publishes on its website the proceedings of scientific congresses of the UNESP Faculties of Dentistry. The rules for publishing abstracts are explained to those responsible for the congress before they are sent to the publisher. The costs of publishing the proceedings are the responsibility of the congress. The journal may not agree to publish abstracts if it considers that they do not constitute advances in knowledge in the field of dentistry and related areas.

Title Page

The title page must contain the following information:

• title in Portuguese and English, which should be concise and reflect the aim of the study;
• full name(s) of the author(s), highlighting the surname(s) in the order of publication, containing the department and institution to which the author(s) is affiliated (including the acronym), full addresses (including city and country), e.g. Department of Dental Materials and Prosthodontics, School of Dentistry at Araraquara, São Paulo State University, UNESP, Araraquara , SP, Brazil, e- mail, ORCID.
• Authors are required to describe each author's contribution in a separate section (Author Contributions) at the end of the manuscript, before the Acknowledgments. Author contributions should follow the terms defined by the CRediT taxonomy covering the criteria: conceptualization, data curation, data analysis, receipt of funding, research, methodology, project management, software development, implementation and testing, supervision, validation of data and experiments, design of data presentation, writing of the original manuscript, proofreading and editing. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to be responsible for all aspects of the work.
• DO NOT INCLUDE titles (DDS, MSc, PhD, etc.) and/or positions of authors (Professor, Graduate Student, etc.).
• full address of the corresponding author - to whom all correspondence will be sent - including e-mail address and ORCID.
• E-mail and ORCID of all authors.
• Authors are obliged to report any potential conflict of interest in this section. Otherwise, they should state that "The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest related to this study".
• Only one author should be designated as corresponding author

Changes in authorship

Authors are expected to carefully consider the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and to provide the final list of authors at the time of original submission. No addition or change of authorship will be allowed during the evaluation stage or after acceptance of the submitted text.

As a way of standardizing authorship, it is mandatory to include the ORCID iD of all authors at the time of submission. After the first analysis, before the article is forwarded for peer review, texts that do not have the ORCID informed in the system will be notified to include the identifier registration, and must contain at the time of registration, information on academic training and employment (if any).

The presentation of the ORCID must include the full URL, accompanied by the expression "https://" (for example: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1825-0097).

Articles can be submitted in Portuguese or English. After approval, texts submitted in Portuguese may be translated into English. Authors who are not native speakers of English should seek the help of a translation company, see "Language policies".

Title (in English and Portuguese)

Titles can be a maximum of 75 characters (including spaces).

Summary (in English and Portuguese)

All types of articles (original and review) must contain a SUMMARY in English and Portuguese before the text, with a maximum of 250 words, structured as follows: objective, materials and methods, results and conclusion. There should be no abbreviations or references.

Keywords

Three words minimum and six words maximum, with information that allows the work to be understood and indexed. The keywords should be cited immediately after the Abstract. To select the keywords, authors should consult the list of topics in the following database: Medical Subject Headings - MeSH database.

They should be separated by semicolons; the first word should be capitalized. Example:

Palavras-chave: Compósito de resina; implante dentário; resistência flexural; reabilitação oral.

Keywords: Composite resins; dental implant; flexural resistance; mouth rehabilitation

Introduction

Provide a precise explanation of the problem using relevant literature, identifying any gaps that justify the proposition of the study. The hypothesis to be validated should be established at the end of the introduction.

Materials and methods

They must be presented in sufficient detail to allow the observations to be confirmed and reproduced. City, State and Country of all manufacturers of products, instruments, reagents or equipment should be included after the first citation. Methods already published should be referenced, unless modifications have been made. The sample calculation and statistical methods used should be described in the chapter.

Results

The results should be presented following the sequence of Materials and Methods, with tables, illustrations, etc. All information about data contained in tables and illustrations should not be repeated in the text; only important observations should be emphasized.

Discussion

The results should be discussed in relation to the hypothesis to be validated and the literature (agree or disagree with other studies, explaining divergent results). Only the results of the study should be highlighted and the information mentioned in the Introduction or Results should not be repeated. The limitations of the study should be reported and future studies should be suggested.

Conclusion

The conclusions should be consistent with the objectives and not just repeat the results.

Author contributions

The REV. ODONTO. UNESP recommends that authors' contributions should follow the terms defined by the CRediT. Contributions include: conception or design of the work, acquisition of data, analysis or interpretation, writing or revision of the manuscript. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to be responsible for all aspects of the work.

Acknowledgements

Individuals who contributed to the work but did not qualify for authorship can be acknowledged in this section. Financial aid must be specified, mentioning the name of the funding organization (funding agency, company or institution) and the identification number of the process/grant.

Financing Statement

Provide sources of support for the work, including names of sponsors, contract number (if any), along with explanations of the role of these sources.

Illustrations and Tables

Illustrations (figures, graphs, drawings, etc.) will be considered as figures in the text; they should be limited to a maximum of four (4) figures. They should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals in the order in which they appear in the text.

All illustrations must be included and cited in the main text. Illustration captions must be placed above the figure. Figures must be attached, in their original color, scanned in tif, gif or jpg format, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, 86 mm (column size) or 180 mm (full page).

Tables should be organized logically and numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals, with a maximum of two (2) tables. Tables must be included and cited in the main text. Table legends should be placed above the table. Tables should be open at the sides (right and left). Footnotes should be indicated by asterisks and kept to a minimum.
 

Citing Authors in the Text

References should   be   cited   in   ascending   order   within   the   paragraph.

Authors can be cited in the text in one of two ways:

Numerically only: Example: "The 'ladder' pattern is commonly observed radiographically and is characterized by radiolucency between the apexes of the teeth and the lower edge of the mandible.^6,10,11,13

Alphanumerically:

One author: Ginnan⁴ (2006)

Two authors: Tunga, Bodrumlu¹³ (2006) Three or more authors: Shipper et al.² (2004)

References

The Rev. Odontol. UNESP adopts the Vancouver Standards – National library of medicine. Journal titles should be abbreviated according to the List of Journals Index Medicus. The accuracy of the references in the list and the correct citation in the text are the sole responsibility of the author(s). References with a DOI should be placed at the end of the reference. Only references relevant to the study should be cited.

References to personal communication, work in progress or in the process of being submitted for publication should not appear in the list of references. When essential, these citations should be footnoted on the page of the text where they are mentioned.

Research on humans and/or animals

The journal pays strict attention to ethical standards for conducting research on animals and humans. Certificates from animal and human ethics committees are required in the submission process. If there is any doubt about the documentation submitted, the journal may reject the article.

Experimental procedures with humans and animals:

Research involving human beings: All works that report experiments with human beings or that use parts of human bodies or organs (such as teeth, blood, biopsy fragments, saliva, etc.) must follow the established ethical principles and present a an approval document from the Human Research Ethics Committee of the author's institution or the Committee of the Institution where the research was carried out, be in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and subject of the project has signed a detailed informed consent form.

Research involving animals: All animal experiments must comply with ARRIVE.  guidelines. Studies involving animal experiments must present an approval protocol from the Animal Research Ethics Committee of the author's institution or from the Committee of the Institution where the animals were obtained and the experiments were carried out.

The Editors and the Editorial Board of this journal reserve the right to reject submitted articles that do not present clear evidence that these principles have been respected or that, in their opinion, the methods used were not appropriate for research with human beings or animals.

The corresponding author will receive an email approving the article for publication in the Rev. Odontol. UNESP. The editor responsible for editorial production will format the text and, once completed, send a proof to the author(s) for confirmation and correction of the text if necessary.

The author(s) has(have) 72 hours to correct and return a proof of the revised article, if necessary. If the proof is not returned within 72 hours, the Scientific Editor considers the unaltered version to be final and no further changes are permitted.

The proof will only be used to check the composition, editing, completeness and accuracy of the text, tables and figures. Significant changes to the article accepted for publication will only be considered at this stage with the authorization of the Editor. It is important to ensure that all corrections are answered in a single communication.

Check the test carefully before answering, as the inclusion of any subsequent corrections cannot be guaranteed. Proofreading is the sole responsibility of the author(s).

Once the article has been finalized, the author(s) will receive an e-mail from the

publisher advising them to pay the publication fee of R$ 700.00 (seven hundred reais) for Brazilians and U$ 200.00 (two hundred dollars) for foreigners.
