Background information

Texto & Contexto Enfermagem, Journal, of the Graduate Nursing Program at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, publishes technical-scientific production in health and particularly nursing.

The journal was created in 1992. Its first issue was published in June 1992. Its Internal Regulations were approved in July 1992, with periodic updates, and its latest version was approved in 2018.

Texto & Contexto Enfermagem circulates in Brazil and several international countries, publishing articles in Portuguese, English and Spanish.

The journal is affiliated with the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors (ABEC).

Signatory of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment – DORA

Its abbreviated title Texto Contexto Enferm should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references.



To disseminate the production of scientific and technological knowledge in health and nursing, emphasizing the quality of research and the improvement of health sciences.


Editorial policy

Texto & Contexto Enfermagem provides space for reflection and deepening of knowledge about issues of practice, teaching and research in health and nursing, at national and international levels.

The journal is published in Continuous flow mode, accepting manuscripts in Portuguese, English or Spanish, in the categories original article, reflection, experience report and review. Contributions designated to the dissemination of unpublished original research results are prioritized for publication. Special issues are published at the discretion of the Board of Directors and Associate Editors. All manuscripts are published in two versions, one of which is English, aiming to cover the largest number of readers worldwide.

The editorial policy of Texto & Contexto Enfermagem is based on rigorous quality criteria for indexing and publishing (including technical and normative aspects, graphic and textual quality and excellence in scientific content); on responsibility for shared management between the Board of Directors, Editorial Board and Internal and External Editors Associates; and on the rigorous and constructive peer review, preserving the anonymity of authors and reviewers (double blinded).



The dissemination of articles published in Texto & Contexto Enfermagem is carried out on the journal's webpage, in the indexed databases and social networks such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Financing Model

The financing model of Texto & Contexto Enfermagem is shared between authors and development institutions. Authors individually finance the production of their scientific production, in terms of evaluation, translation and publication, according to the fees referred to in the author instructions The development institutions contribute to the training system building and publishing production

The editorial conduct for cases of detected plagiarism follows the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors do Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) ( Verification of the text authenticity is performed through the application of the CrossRef Similarity Check - iThenticate software.
