Scielo RSS <![CDATA[BAR - Brazilian Administration Review]]> vol. 12 num. 3 lang. en <![CDATA[SciELO Logo]]> <![CDATA[Editorial]]> <![CDATA[Value Added Elements According to Buyer Companies in a B2B Context]]> This paper analyses how buyer companies perceive the value added to products and services offered by their suppliers and identifies the predominant elements that affect purchasing decisions and establishment of relationships between companies in a B2B context. A multiple case study was developed in 12 buyer companies from three industrial segments in southern Brazil: metal-mechanics, furniture and foods. The findings show that for supplier companies in the metal-mechanics industry to add value, they must identify buyers' needs, develop technology/innovation, be focused on competitive aspects, keep control of the supply chain, provide different purchasing channels, develop partnerships, and adapt to cultural aspects. Companies in the food industry consider the model for creating value to adapt to meet customer needs, the effective use of purchasing channels, functionality of products, and technical knowledge. The companies in the furniture industry value the methods that suppliers use to capture and implement required changes, effective control of the supply chain, and the representativeness of the suppliers' brand in the market. This study captures the perception of buyer companies in relation to predominant value-adding elements and could guide decisions for the adoption of managerial actions by supplier companies focused on adding value. <![CDATA[Organizational Commitment, Psychological Contract Fulfillment and Job Performance: A Longitudinal Quanti-qualitative Study]]> The goals of this study are to contribute to the understanding of the development of organizational commitment and to explore the relations among psychological contract fulfillment, organizational commitment, and job performance. This paper reports the findings of a longitudinal quanti-qualitative study conducted with newcomers over three years. We identified four trajectories of commitment development: Learning to Love, High Match, Honeymoon Hangover and Learning to Hate. The last one is originally proposed in this study, and it is represented by individuals who began work highly committed to the organization, but then their commitment levels decreased dramatically over time. We discuss some characteristics associated with these trajectories. Our results corroborate the assumption that psychological contract fulfillment is positively related to commitment. Nevertheless, our findings about the relationship between commitment and job performance were different according to the trajectories. The trajectories Learning to Love and Learning to Hate support the assumption that higher commitment levels would lead to better performance, and vice versa; however, the trajectories High Match and Honeymoon Hangover contradict it. We offer and discuss some possible explanations for these findings. <![CDATA[Leaderships in Urban Contexts of Diversity and Innovation: The <em>Porto Maravilha</em> Case]]> This article investigates the role and ways of action of leaderships in urban contexts characterized by urban revitalization processes (RJ/Brazil). Adopting as its theoretical basis the bibliographical review of the literature on leadership and public area requalification processes, as well as research conducted by Jacobs (2011) on diversity and innovation, the present research may be characterized as qualitative in nature (case study). Results indicate that the Porto Maravilha project has transposed business concepts to public administration. Today, the keynote lies in the attraction of new enterprises and in the construction of urban revitalization projects for the city's makeover. With regard to the leadership, although public leadership has apparently adopted management instruments for decentralizing management and for public participation, these measures were not enough to achieve an effectively shared leadership that would reflect the multiple interests of different actors (as the theory of relational leadership presupposes). Thus, a set of contradictions and dilemmas for the leaders is apparent, among them: how to build an effectively-shared leadership, as every urban transformation project depends on the negotiation and complex interaction between different social actors? <![CDATA[Environmental Management, Strategic Practices and Praxis: A Study in Santa Catarina Industrial Companies]]> This article analyzed the correlation between strategic praxis related to environmental management in Santa Catarina industrial companies and their strategic practices. This quantitative study is based on the theoretical foundations of environmental management and strategy as practice. Praxis (environmental management) is understood as a cluster of three perspectives: product design, main processes and support system. The data were collected by way of an online questionnaire, with 225 completed and submitted to canonical correlation multivariate analysis using SPSS software, confirming the hypothesis that there is a correlation between companies' praxis (environmental management) and strategic practices. However, the correlation best represents the original variables at the support system level, seeking to value the correlation. Likewise, not all original variables make up the new canonical variable, which suggests that there are new implications. <![CDATA[Methodological Reflections on Practice-Based Research in Organization Studies]]> AbstractThis article aims to discuss methodological possibilities for empirical research on practice-based studies. From the small number of publications on research and methodological procedures on the study of practices, the text makes a rescue of the philosophical assumptions of practice theories, so it can further bring the discussion of how they influence in the form of access to and analysis of empirical data. It is, therefore, a theoretical text that seeks to present general guidelines to foster the development of specific methods for practice-based studies as its main contribution. Further, it discusses ways of collecting and analyzing empirical data from the practice lens perspective.
