Considering the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Northeast in the last years, this study aims to analyze if such growth occurred in a way to reduce the income disparities between the municipalities of this region. For this, the hypothesis of -convergence, absolute and conditional, as well as -convergence was tested. The results showed that for the region as a whole, the municipalities have the two types of convergence, in addition to the convergence. The conditional -convergence proved to be poor, since the convergence velocity was greater than in absolute -convergence, and consequently a shorter half-life, being a reduction of two and a half years. This shows that the variables used in conditional -convergence (Firjan health and education), contribute to reduce the income disparities between the Northeastern municipalities.

Keywords : -convergência; Nordeste; renda; -convergência; Solow.
