Abstract

MAYWORM, Marco A. S  and  SALATINO, Antonio. Flavonoids of capitulla of four species of Paepalanthus Ruhl. (Eriocaulaceae). Acta Bot. Bras. [online]. 1993, vol.7, n.2, pp.129-133. ISSN 0102-3306.  https://doi.org/10.1590/S0102-33061993000200008.

Flavonoids of four species of Paepalanthus (P. bifrons, P. hilairei, P. planifolius e P. robustus) were isolated and identified. Three species presentd 6- oxygenated flavonols, a characteristic that is also known in Eriocaulon. However, P. hilairei contains flavones, a character of Leiothrix and Syngonanthus. These preliminary results reveal a chemical heterogeneity of Paepalanthus as compared with other genera of Eriocaulaceae.

Keywords : Eriocaulaceae; Paepalanthus; flavonoids; chemotaxonomy.
