OBJECTIVE:

to investigate health factors associated with receiving counseling on diet andphysical activity.

METHODS:

cross-sectional study with a sample of Primary Health Care Centers service users in Belo Horizonte-MG. Sociodemographic, anthropometric and dietary intake data were collected, as were data on use of services, health conditions and reported receipt of counseling.

RESULTS:

on average 51.1% received counseling, varying between 16.5% at Center A and 36.0% at Center D. After adjusting for Primary Health Care Center, variables associated with receiving counseling (p<0.05) were: having hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, overweight, taking medication and taking part in the Health Fitness Academy Program (HFAP).

CONCLUSION:
