Abstract

WALTY, Ivete Lara Camargos  and  GUIMARAES, Raquel Beatriz Junqueira. Ruffato: a writer and a project of nation. Estud. Lit. Bras. Contemp. [online]. 2017, n.51, pp.41-63. ISSN 2316-4018.  https://doi.org/10.1590/2316-4018513.

This article aims at analyzing Ruffato’s writing project and its place in the Brazilian literary canon, focusing on the relationship between literature and society. The article examines how Ruffato’s book there were many horses, published in 2005, is used as a metonymic axis within the author’s literary trajectory, and how its critical reception is understood as a landmark of Brazilian contemporary literature. Therefore, the symbolic place of Ruffato and his transit through the country and around the world are discussed, as well as his intervention in the public sphere.

Keywords : writing; nation; public sphere; Luiz Ruffato.
