EDITORS' NOTE

New editors and new challenges

The year of 2011 has started with changes in the editorial board of the Revista Brasileira de Psiquiatria (RBP). Maintaining an appointment policy based on the pillars of scientific production and potential for leadership, José Alexandre Crippa becomes one of our editors, together with Rodrigo Bressan and Marcelo Fleck. Likewise, João Quevedo and Marcelo Q. Hoexter were appointed associate editors. Jaime Hallak now shares the responsibility for book reviews with Flávio Shanshis. The editors understand that these changes are crucial in a continual process of renovation.

The new team shall face novel challenges with the aim of increasing the visibility and expanding the reach of the RBP, always in consonance with the journal's mission and proposed goals. It is important to mention that this process is carried out in harmony with the Associação Brasileira de Psiquiatria (ABP) and its board of directors.

We express our earnest gratitude to all the editors who have preceded us and, in this specific moment, especially to doctors Beny Lafer, Hermano Tavares, and Mauro Aranha, who dedicated themselves to the RBP for many years with competence and enthusiasm, contributing for our scientific publication to achieve its current standard of excellence in the field.
