RESUMO
No laboratório de Fitopatologia da UFSM, foi isolado e identificado o patógeno Pestalotia dichaeta Speg., oriundo de plantas atacadas das espécies Eucalyptus dunnii Malden., E. viminalis Labiil. e E. nitens Maiden., coletados em Canoinhas - SC. Para confirmação do agente causal, mudas sadias de E. viminalis Labiil., com 60 cm de altura, foram inoculadas com uma solução de esporos do agente isolado e, após algumas semanas, folhas e ramos destas foram isolados, confirmando-se a identificação do agente. Trata-se de um fungo não agressivo, pois o plantio atacado, após alguns meses, recuperava-se rapidamente.

ABSTRACT
The pathogen Pestalotia dichaeta Speg., was isolated in the Laboratory of Phytopathology of UFSM, derived from plants which were attacked by Eucalyptus dunni Maiden., E. viminalis Labiil. and E. nitens Maiden., collected um Canoinhas, Santa Catarina state, Brazil. The confirmation of the agent was made by the inoculation of E. viminalis seedlings, 60 cm of height, with a solution of spores of this pathogen, previously isolated and, after some weeks, the material with characteristic symptom of the disease was analyzed through reisolation, confirming the identification. It was also observed that these fungi are no much aggressive, because the attacked plants showed rapid recuperation after a few months.
